I have a user (test3)in my SFB lab environment with below display name. I have six words in the display name parameter.
Another user (test1) with web search only policy has initiated a search in SFB client with last word and last two words, user was only returned with last word. Please see below.
I have verified the address book attributes using following SFB powershell command. Please note, debug addreess has returned three display name search strings in the results.
$a = Debug-csaddressbookreplication -User test3@domain.com
$a.attributevalues
Later, reduced the AD display name to three words as seen below and updated Lync user database. (update-csuserdatabase)
Sign-out and sign in back to SFB client and I was able to search with last word and second last word.
Verified the address book attributes for the same user, I could see eight display name search strings with different combination as seen below.
Based on the test results, if you have more then three words in AD display name attribute , SQL search string is limited which may reduce the web search combinations with display name for the user.
